Basic Wardrobe Essentials You Need

It can be really hard to put outfits together when you have items that go with only one or two things.  Honestly I wish someone would have told me to get at least a few basics during fresh/soph year because I just bought patterns or prints -- not a good look when you don't know what you're doing.

Some days you're busy and don't have the time to pick out a full look.  If you're just starting out then I would get neutrals and then expand from there! Outfits with simple color palettes are easier to put together without much effort.

 1. Lightweight Cardigan: I was on a cardigan-kick a couple years back so I pretty much have them in every color you can imagine. I tend to get cold easily so I can put them in my backpack or carry them since they're lightweight. You can wear these into fall/winter too -- just change the color scheme & add accessories such as a knit or blanket scarf.

2. Short/Long Sleeve tee: These are comfy, easy to throw on and cute (I recommend tees that have some sort of detail such as the front twist -- it makes you look like you are trying harder than you actually are). Looser tees look more casual and don't show the things you don't want haha.

3. Crossbody or Satchel: Find a purse that goes with the majority of your wardrobe, whether it's white or a tan color. Pay attention to the hardware if it's gold or silver, if you care about that (I do!). I like satchels more because they tend to be more structured in shape.

4. Jeans That Fit: I wear jeans 90% of the time so it's important for me to have pairs that I love and aren't too tight. I bought these a couple months ago and I need to stop myself from wearing them too often. I recommend sizing up a size, I found that these ran a little small. I like my jeans distressed, but don't limit yourself -- try different colors or embellishments too.

5. Fave Pair of Earrings: Whether it's a pair of studs or druzy statement earrings, I think earrings can really add to a look. These are super popular right now and I can see why!

6. Slip-on Shoes: These brown ones are perfect for spring! I really like this shade of brown, I think it goes with everything. The espadrille detailing makes it really on trend.

7. Watch: I love love love watches; I wear them everyday and color-coordinate them with my outfits. If you don't like large face, bulkier watches then I recommend the Darci or Parker. I have both of them and I slightly prefer the Parker since I wear it more often. They come in silver, gold, and rose gold. It's really important to have a watch because you can't always take your phone out to check the time.

Moral of the story is -- buy items that are versatile and can be worn with lots of different things if you are building your closet from scratch.

Pink for Valentine's Day II OOTD

Ruffles are IN and not going anywhere soon. I especially love ruffles on the shoulder and have been looking all over for the perfect one. A couple that I have listed below can be found at Target or Express! This outfit is very casual, so it's more of a daytime OOTD. My earrings are from Forever21 but I can't find them on their website. If you live near one then go there for statement earrings (most are under $10)!

Spring Shoes You Need For UNDER $50 II OOTD

I cannot wait until spring so I can wear floral tops and distressed denim shorts, especially since there's been some snow here (bleh). I've been wearing several variations of this outfit on the warmer days and it's super cozy yet still cute. The olive long sleeved tee I'm wearing LINKED HERE is the most comfortable shirt ever, I sized up for a looser oversized look. It comes in 9 colors and in regular, tall, and petite (I bought mine in store, so I got 'regular'). I paired it with a knit white cardigan and knee-ripped skinny jeans. Outfit details linked below!

shop my outfit:

I was just looking around online and I found some really cute shoes for spring, for under $50! These are my personal recommendations and some of them I already have in my closet.

These also come in black, but the pink looks more fresh for warmer weather. I would pair these with a lighter wash jean and a white blouse for an easy outfit. They're currently 70% off right now and perfect if you want a simple chunky wedged mule.

These will go with everything and espadrilles have really been in trend lately! I tried them on in-store and they run TTS; but if you're in-between sizes, I would size down. They are really comfortable and the wedge is low if you don't like wearing high heels. It's a perfect casual sandal for school or work.

I love the bow detail and the closed toe for chillier spring days. These will be super comfy since they have no heel at all, so no worries about your feet hurting! This shoe comes in two colors, a light pink and a bright red-orange. If you already have a lot of neutral colored shoes, I would buy the orange shade.

I got these last year and I'm so glad they are back! They are super comfortable and look way more expensive than they actually are. I wore them all the time in the summer. The studs make them look really trendy and the sandal comes in black, tan, and white. The tan and black comes with gold studs while the white comes with silver. I think I'll be picking up the white pair!

Color Blocked Slides
I think these sandals are so versatile and the 1" inch heel is great for walking around. I would go for the yellow paneled slide, but that's my preference. You can never go wrong with a neutral shoe, especially if it's under $25!

Another cute simple slip on shoe that will be a great transition shoe into spring. I like the frayed edges on the canvas and the stitching on the sides. I would pair these with a pair of light/medium wash distressed jeans and a pastel colored blouse.
